Welcome to Rusty Restorations
I’m Michael Amos, founder of Rusty Restorations. This company is my own creation, inspired by the enduring legacy of Amos Bros Roman Wall Forge, the business my family ran for over a century. With more than 30 years of experience in metalworking, I am committed to merging time-honored blacksmith techniques with today’s innovative practices.
Drawing from decades of skilled craftsmanship, I focus on integrating classic forging methods with modern technologies to ensure superior quality in every project.
Rusty Restorations has advanced to the finals of the NE and Yorkshire Start Up Awards. We are thrilled about this achievement! Here is a link to the news article about the startup award.

Our Heritage
The Amos family has been in the blacksmithing business since 1886, and it’s a craft we’re proud of. Our work, like the gates at Alnwick Garden’s Poison Garden and the handrails at Town Moor, really stands out. Even though we had to close the original business in 2011, I started Rusty Restorations to keep our family’s legacy going strong.
This is more than just a job for me; it’s a tribute to my dad, Charlton, my uncle Ridley, and my grandfather, who all poured their hearts into their work. By bringing back the forge under a new name, I’m keeping alive the spirit and craftsmanship that my family has been known for. It’s about continuing a legacy of quality and teaching these skills to the next generation.

Rusty Restorations: Modern Craft, Traditional Values
At Rusty Restorations, we specialise in crafting ornamental gates, custom wrought iron railings, and restoring vintage metal pieces. This includes bringing farm equipment back to its best and giving old metal items a new lease of life.
I blend modern methods with the traditional craftsmanship passed down through my family. This approach ensures that every project is done to the highest standard, preserving the integrity of the old ways while adapting to current demands.
Every piece I work on is a testament to the durability and quality of classic metalwork techniques, adapted to suit modern requirements. Whether it’s a functional piece like a gate or a decorative railing, I make sure it stands the test of time both in craftsmanship and style. Check out our service page for more.
